Based on Arts and Architecture magazine’s experiments in American residential architecture during the 50’s and 60’s. Case Study is a slice of 1:1 scale architecture with an etched glass façade creating the illusion of a real interior within a desert location and a mountain view beyond. An extension of the Etched Glass works, the glass surround of the wall-based works is replaced in Case Study with a fully realised western red cedar and modular steel frame building section. The back lit image takes on great depth and three-dimensionality, which contrasts dramatically with the sculptural surprise of the ‘rear’ and sharp triangular ‘side’ views of the work.
